Reading in Peace

Lilli sat on a bench in the midst of the gardens. She was surrounded by a million different flowers and their scent blended quite nicely. She smiled as she read her book. It was a rather small thing. She had found it on a table one day and decided to read it. It was called Utopia.

She read for a while before she began to tire. She layed down to rest in the grass, she would be safe here. She was in no danger. Anyone who knows her knew that if she wasn't in her room, she was either here or in the Library. She soon fell asleep where she lay.

Sir-Helios was doing his rounds when he past the garden and notice that the princess was reading her book in there as she does every other day. Normally he would talk with her but he is afraid if the king found out about this he stared at her for a few more seconds before he took a step to continue his rounds. But he tripped causing a ruckus "Oh crap" he said after he tripped and hit the ground.

Lilli sat up after hearing a noise. She looked around and then decided to investigate. She gathered the skirts of her dress and walked towards the noise. She soon came apon Sir Helios. "Good knight, what is the noise for?" She smiled gently.

He look up at her embarrassed "Sorry my princess i had tripped due to my bad footing I am sorry for distrubing you my lady" He gets up and bows to her

She smiled sweetly. "It is of no bother. I was looking for a distraction anyhow. Were you making your rounds?" She asked. He had offered to do rounds after being knighted. It seemed sill to Lilli, this was the safest place in the country. She had never been permitted to venture outside of the walls.

He smiled at her and looked down "Yes my lady i was making my rounds it was ordered by the king that i keep an eye on you now that the war is coming" Embarassed still he bows again

She smiled. "You need not to bow. I hate that really. I wish to be normal for once. My rank in society is bothersome. I have never even been outside of these walls." She sighed. She didn't like the war and it made her loath her royal blood even more.

He Thought to himself for a minute "I could take you outside my lady i can show you around if you dont mind me joining you" He said smiling at her

Her eyes light up with excitement. "You would do that for me? I may need to change though. You wouldn't mind waiting, would you?" She didn't know exactly what to wear. SHe had many fine dresses, but she had never been out of the walls. Should she try to blend in? Or should she wear her normal clothes and stand out?

He smiles "Yes i would my lady and i dont mind waitning for you to get changed" He gave her a bright and loving smile

She smiled at him. "Thank you, only, should I try to blend in? I am afraid that I know not what I should wear?"

"You may wear what you like my lady you will look beautiful either way" His face got red as he said that to her

She smiled softly and nodded. "I shall return promptly after I finish dressing." She turned and hurried up to her room. She went through her wardrobe and found a pale pink dress with long sleeves. The neckline was low and the skirt draped but it was one of her favorites.

She changed quickly with the help of on of her lady's maids. She swept her hair up and fastened it in place with flowered combs. Her white flat shoes stayed in place on her feet. She looked at herself in the mirror and smiled.

She hurried back to Sir Helios and smiled at him. She would remember this forever. She had never been out of these walls in her entire sixteen years. Now he was going to let her experience the wonder of her country without borders. "Thank you for this. You know not what it means to me."

He gazes at her while she runs to get changed and waits for her to come back


He then sees her come back and he couldnt stop looking at her until after she spoke to him "huh oh yes my lady im sure you will not forget this and i promise to take all the punishment from your father i mean our king"

She giggled slightly. "Stop worrying, and don't be so up-tight. He will understand. Besides, he could never punish me the way he would you. I shall take the blame. The worst I will get is a lecture."

He smiles "I am sorry my lady but i was told to watch over you so i wont let anything happen you, Are you ready my lady"

She smiled and nodded. "I know your duties. I also know every rule you must follow. I have my own rules. But they are dull and boring. Rules are meant to be broken on occasion."

"My Lady what are your rules i must know so i may do as you wish" He says about to bow but he stops himself

She smiled. "They are the rules for a lady of royal blood. You must conduct yourself in a pristine matter. You shall never expose yourself to any man before marraige. Studies are to be held. You are to be gracious and kind to all. Never raise your coice or hand to anyone. Then there are all of the lessons one courtesy and manners. Like I said, very dull."

"Yes my lady very dull" He lead the way to the castles main door and opened it and waited for her

She walked gracefully through the doors and waited for him right on the otherside. She had told no one of her adventure she was going to have today.

He Closed the door and walked by her side with hand on the hilt of his sword "None shall get near you my lady"

She smiled. "I do not worry about that. I want to enjoy my time outside. I know not when I can experience it again."

"I will stick by you my lady and you may go where you want i have no problem with it" He smiled

"Yes My lady i would be honored to show you around" He said now with a brighter smile on his face

She smiled and followed him. She put her hands behind her back daintily, grasping her hands together. What is there outside of the walls?

She smiled. Then it is a good thing that I have you, my knight. That way you may protect me from said drifters.

"If i have to my lady i would sacrafice my own life to save your own i would rather not see you harmed" he said as he stoppped in the middle of the village

She shook her head. You mustn't risk your life for my own. I wouldn't be able to bear the guilt. I am sure today will pass without incident. Besides, I have never been out of the walls, so no one should know what I look like.

"It is my duty as a knight to protect the heir to the throne and i must not leave your side" He says now slightly more serious

She nodded and smiled softly. If you must.

He walks by her closely and shows her around "Pick where you wanna go my lady"

She smiled. Shopping seems normal enough. Will you give me your honest opinions?

He nods and leads her to a small but very popular store "Yes my lady shopping is quite normal out here"

She smiled. Please, call me Lilli here, it makes it a more normal relationship. I don't want to stand out.

He ponders the word relationship "Ok My la......I mean Lilli"

She smiled and looked around. There was many beautiful trinkets. She was glad that she had remembered to grab a money bag before leaving. She picked up a hair comb with an intricate jeweled flower mounted to it. What of this? Do you like it?

"I like what ever you like Lilli" He says with a smile

She smiled and set it down before looking at him. You are not being very helpful. You are supposed to give me opinions.

"I think that comb was beautiful but i do believe there is one here that is better then that one but im not much of a shopper so my opinions arent always helpful" He looked down as he said it

She smiled. If I wanted an expert opinion, I would have brought along a lady's maid, but I didn't. I am here with you, I want your opinions, no matter how insignifiacant you think they are."

He looks up at her "You may want to find the one over in the corner table over there i think its much better then that one"

She smiled and gracefully walked to the table that he mentioned. She looked at the trinkets. They were all prettier than the comb she had originally picked up. She smiled. They are all so beautiful. She picked things up at random. Some things were meant for your hair, others were meant to where around you neck. There were many rings and bracelets also.

While she does that he pays the vendor for all the items she is looking at and he smiles at her

She smiles as she looks back at him.

She looked at him shocked. No, I can't let you do that. I have money. Let me pay you back.

"No I cant take money from you its not right" He smiles brightly at her
